Warm welcome for Malawi visitors to Cumbernauld

IN a recent edition we reported that Cumbernauld was to be visited by a delegation from Malawi who extended a tour of English and Welsh youth projects to meet Condorrat man Ben Wilson.

The group spent a month in the UK touring various youth projects, and were invited to Cumbernauld by Ben Wilson of Condorrat, who has made four trips to Malawi as a student volunteer with AYISE, the Active Youth Initiative for Social Enhancement.

The party was officially welcomed to Cumbernauld by Gregg McClymont MP, while 22-year-old Ben welcomed them to his home and took them on several excursions.

The group took in such sights as the Scottish Parliament and the Highland Games in Luss as well as Blantyre, home of missionary David Livingstone and founder of Blantyre, Malawi.
