Warning after spate of house break-ins in Bearsden and Milngavie
There were four break-ins at homes in Bearsden, with tools stolen from a house in Woodvale Avenue, which was being renovated, some time between 3.30pm on January 7 and 7am on January 11.

Hide AdA house in Lochaber Road, Bearsden, was also broken into recently and a home in nearby Canniesburn Drive was targeted at 2.51am on Monday, January 18.
Meanwhile, crooks raided a house in Tannoch Drive, Milngavie, on January 7 at 3.30am and thieves attempted to steal a car between 11.30pm on Saturday, January 16, and 3.25pm the following day in First Avenue, Bearsden.
Inspector Gerry Corrigan, from Kirkintilloch Police Office, said: “Always remember your personal safety - do not confront any suspects as you may be putting yourself at risk.

Hide Ad“Establish a nightly routine to keep you and your family are safe and well. Check all your doors and windows are locked before you go to bed and if you’re popping out - even if it’s just for a minute.
“If you have an alarm fitted to the house activate it when you retire for the night or when you are leaving your house empty.
“Never leave your keys in the door overnight because someone could reach through the letterbox for them with a pole.

Hide Ad“Also don’t leave valuables visible through a window or door.
“We’d advise people to secure all keys out of sight, preferably upstairs.”
Other advice includes:
nDon’t leave spare house or car keys hidden outside.
nUse a timer switch for your lights when you go out and consider leaving a radio on.

nMake sure fencing is maintained and keep gates, sheds and garages locked.
nProperty mark your valuables which makes it easier to identify them if stolen.
