Was Colin McRae helicopter crash fatal folly or tragic accident?

THE long McRae helicopter crash inquiry has ended with a claim that the Lanark rally star was flying too fast and too low for safety on the day he and his three passengers died.

However, there was also a counter-claim, suggesting that his front-seat passenger and friend Graeme Duncan might have accidentally interfered with the controls, causing the fatal smash near McRae’s Jerviswood House home on September 15, 2007.

Both 39-year-old ex-World Champion Colin and 37-year-old Graeme were killed in the accident along with McRae’s five-year-old son Johnny and six-year-old Ben Porcelli of Braidwood.
