Webcams broadcast live council meetings online

Live footage of full East Renfrewshire Council meetings will now be broadcast online.

Cameras have been installed in the council chamber, to enable the public to see and hear debates as they happen.

Residents can also catch up on meetings — held every six weeks — in the council’s archive library.

Councillor Jim Fletcher, ERC leader, said: “These new webcasts are a great example of how committed we are to improving accessibility to our residents.

“It means local people can find out what is being debated during council meetings without having to attend them.”

The first live broadcast takes place tonight (Wednesday) at 7pm, available on the ERC website.
