Welcome to 2014 - and some great outdoor events coming up this month

The rangers at Mugdock Country Park have been busy organising events for January to help beat those winter blues.

You could have fun, get fit and enjoy a day out in the fresh air by going along to the ‘Get Your Hands Dirty’ event at Lenzie Moss, Lenzie on Saturday, January 18 from 10.45am – 12pm

This free event will give you the chance to enhance the biodiversity of Lenzie Moss. Help to restore this rare, raised bog to bring back the plants and animals that used to live here. Wear wellies. Follow signs from the end of Lenzie railway station car park. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

A similar free event to carry out woodland thinning is going to take place in Kirkintilloch on Saturday, January 25 from 10.30am – 12pm.

Help with the woodland management by felling some trees with the ranger service. Wear wellies. Everyone welcome, children must be accompanied by an adult. Meet in Merkland local nature reserve car park off Merkland Drive, Kirkintilloch.

Children aged eight to 12 years old are invited to go along to a meeting of the Junior Nature Club on Sunday, January 26 from 1.45 to 4pm – no parents required!
