We’re set forMt Kilimanjaro

After many months of training – and just a brief pause for Christmas – Carrickstone women Sharon Mooney (right in picture above) and Corinne Leslie are set for the adventure of a lifetime.

The pals both have families and busy professional lives, but have turned their love of hillclimbing into a bold fundraising bid for the Craighalbert centre for children with sensory problems.

And they’ve spent a fortune of their own money on the cost of the expedition –all donations so far have gone straight to the charity fund.

“We don’t know how much we’ll finally raise,” said Corinne, “but everything we’re given will go straight to the centre.”

She joked: “We could have had a luxury hotel holiday on the money we’ve spent so far, but no sense of achievement to look forward to.”

Sharon said: “January 26 is the big day, and we’re hoping lots of local people will join those who are already supporting us by donating to our Craighalbert fund”.

We’ll have more coverage of the climb on the daring duo’s return, but meanwhile there’s more information at Corinne-and-Sharons-Kilimanjaro-Charity-Climb on Facebook and www.justgiving.com/Sharon-Mooney-Corinne-Leslie
