In Carluke, tributes have been paid to a popular former Carluke Rovers player who collapsed and died while playing football on Friday evening while in Lanark, there is a gorwing belief that a South Lanarkshire Leisure decision could threaten the existence of Lanark Panto Club.

As concern grows over the prospect of pupils having to walk three miles to school instead of qualifying for a school bus for a two-mile distance, one parent has launched a petition against the change and a local undertaker hits out at the council as it revealed the cost of burying a lived one costs £700 more in Clydesdale than it does a few miles away in North Lanarkshire.
