Wife’s tribute to tragic husband

THE WIFE of a Kilsyth man has raised hundreds of pounds for a brain rehabilitation charity following the tragic and sudden death of her husband – who himself saved lives as an organ donor.

Albert Graham Bartlett (38), or Graham as he was known, travelled to Amsterdam last month with friends. After an enjoyable weekend he was leaving the hotel when he slipped on stairs hitting the back of his head.

He was rushed to the VU Medical Centre in Amsterdam, where he underwent a series of tests. Sadly the damage to his brain was irreparable and Graham passed away with his loving wife, Claire, by his side.

Instead of donations for flowers, Claire asked that people give whatever they could to go to a charity she would choose.

She said: “I wanted to raise the money for a cause that could have helped Graham, had he still been with us. I chose the Brain Rehabilitation Trust, which specialises in helping people who have suffered brain injuries in their rehabilitation.”

Claire said she had been overwhelmed by the support she had received, and had taken some comfort from learning of others whose lives had been saved thanks to her husband’s decision to donate his organs after his death.
