Windfarm developer tries to get Glespin on board

THE developers of a planned new wind farm near Glespin are hoping to avoid the local resistance which faced such a proposal at Cleghorn Muir by trying to get the local community `on board’ from the start.

Edinburgh-based PNE Wind UK plan to create a windfarm with a so-far undisclosed number of turbines on the moorland at Kennoxhead. Like many wind farm sites, the area has a coalmining past.

A meeting was held by the firm last week with a newly-formed community liaison group to discuss the scheme, the first of a series of regular meetings the developer plans to hold as the project is prepared for a full planning application to South Lanarkshire Council,
