Wine Festival is toast of the town

A Clarkston businesswoman is putting Glasgow on the map with the city’s first ever wine festival.

The Glasgow Wine Festival will see over 400 thirsty fans descend on Trades Hall this Saturday (October 18), with 75 boutique wines from around the world to sample.

The event is the work of Kirstin Boyce, who set up online business The Wine Palate in 2010.

Shesaid: “Wine Palate has hosted wine tasting events for smaller audiences, and I’ve always had the idea that we could offer it on a bigger scale — so now, after months of planning, we have the first ever festival.”

Along with fine wines, canapes, olive oil and sherry tasting, Kirstin has also enlisted the help of Busby pianist Douglas Johnston, as well as a series of mini wine masterclasses.

Tickets have now sold out, but for wine aficionados who have secured theirs, the event runs noon-5.30pm.
