Woman ‘could have died’ in fire attack

A CARBRAIN woman could easily have been killed by delinquent firebugs recently, say the emergency services.

On the night of April 12 at Wallbrae Road, the home of Bernadette Hutcheson was badly damaged by fire when a sofa, a mattress and bin bags left outside the house for pickup were set alight and the fire spread to the front of the property.

Watch Commander Gordon McGuire of Cumbernauld Fire Station said: “This was an act of wanton vandalism and gross stupidity which could eacily have resulted in the death of the occupier.”
