Woman obstructed police car on emergency call

OBSTRUCTING the police in their duties will not be tolerated.

That’s the message from Cumbernauld Police who arrested a 20-year-old female after a scene in Tay Walk on Sunday.

It is understood that the woman was under the influence of alcohol – and got in the way of a police car which was on its way to an emergency call.

She refused to move from the front of the vehicle – and was then arrested.

Meanwhile in a separate incident, a man has been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol – in the same street as Cumbernauld Police Station.

The 50-year-old driver was stopped on South Muirhead Road on Saturday (January 7) and was tested via breathalyser.

It is alleged that he was over the limit – and was arrested as a result.

And Kildrum was the scene of a drugs arrest on Sunday (January 8). Police entered a house in Burns Road and searched the premises. Drugs were found and a 39-year-old man has been arrested.

A Croy teenager was also arrested on drugs charges after officers turned up in McSparran Road on Friday (January 6) and searched an 18-year-old male. He was allegedly found in possession of controlled drugs and was arrested.

Reports on these incidents have gone to the procurator fiscal in Airdrie.
