Strathclyde Fire and Rescue say other residents were safely evacuated and there had been no other injuries.

The alarm was raised after the fire broke out around 2pm on Thursday.

Now, the A77 Pollokshaws Road has been closed both ways between Turrif Street and Albert Drive.

Strathclyde Fire and Rescue’s assistant chief officer Lewis Ramsay said: “Firefighters who first arrived on the scene quickly evacuated the premises and I’m pleased to say there have been not reports of serious injuries.

“We’re now bringing the fire under control and crews will be on the scene for an extended period of time as we work to bring this incident to a safe conclusion”.
