The Safer South Lanarkshire initiative will see advice given on what lone drivers should do when they break down, including how to change a wheel.

Clydesdale Chief Inspector Colin Murphy said: “This advice is particularly aimed at lone female motorists, although we recognise that it is useful for drivers in general.

“It is essential that every driver recognises the importance of doing basic things like topping up a window washer or changing wheels.”

It is anticipated that two or three more such advice evenings will be held in the next month.
