Woodfarm ambassadors spread the word at J7

Kicking off today, the summit allows young people to make their voices heard ahead of the G7 Leaders Summit in June, whee governments involved will discuss global political issues.

As reported in The Extra, Emily and Kelsey (both 15) and Jonas (14) are three of six youngsters chosen from across the UK — and they will soon meet German chancellor Angela Merkel to present their findings on topics including climate change, poverty and development and empowerment of girls and women.

Jonas commented: “There are some very important topics that need to be addressed and the leaders should listen to what children and young people have to say.”

Emily hopes that providing her peers with a voice will encourage “other people my age to look for ways to get involved”.

And for Kelsey, it’s about spreading the word about Unicef. She said: “I got involved in the J7 to help people around the world and to help with topics that Unicef works on in 190 countries across the world.

“I want to tell the G7 that more needs to be done to promote children’s rights to protect children in danger.”
