Work starts on new care home for Newton Mearns

The £8 million development, at the corner of Waterfoot Road and Broom Road East, will be built by Marshall Construction Ltd for Meallmore, as part of a wider development by Mactaggart & Mickel.

Up to 68 people with general nursing needs will be cared for, and the care provider promises up to 90 jobs for care assistants, hotel services staff, administrators and managers.

The two-storey building is due for completion in 2016, and will include a landscaped garden between two wings of the building, to allow seamless access to the outdoors for residents.

Neighbours will be notified of construction work in the coming weeks.
