Meanwhile, Kyle Morrison and Mitzi Oliver clinched first place in their sections.

And three more ceilidh teams from the dance school, as well as six solo dancers, also qualified for the championships.

The Stewart School of Dance is no stranger to World Irish Dance Championships.

Last year they won two medals for solo performance.

The young dancers are all looking forward to the championships, which will take place in London in April.

Eulalia Stewart, who runs the dance school with her daughter, also called Eulalia, said: “We are really proud of the dancers, it’s a great achievement for them.

“The hard work will really start now for the championships. It is a very difficult competition.

“This is the first time the event has been held in London. It’s been in Glasgow three times and was in Boston last year.

“We’re really looking forward to taking part.”

The Stewart School of Dance holds classes in Kirkintilloch, Lenzie and Bishopbriggs.
