World record birth for Biggar mum Kirsty Kerr

KIRSTY Kerr paced around her boyfriend Chris Swan's house in pain for five hours, before suddenly giving birth to little Emma Lindsay Swan...on the toilet floor.

Kirsty (25), who hails from Biggar, said: "I went to bed at 11.30pm. But I kept waking and ended up pacing up and down. Chris was telling me to relax but I just couldn't and I thought I might be in labour.

"I lay on the couch for 15 minutes and suddenly felt as if I needed to go to the toilet and push.

"I went back upstairs and my waters broke. The baby's head came out after just two pushes and two screams!"

Chris phoned 999 and, after receiving advice from the operator, got Kirsty comfortable...just three minutes later the baby was out!

"I only gave three pushes to get Emma out," Kirsty said. "It must have been a world record!

"It was just instinct; the most amazing experience of my life.

"I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful daughter. She is a wee doll and everyone in the family loves her to bits."

Emma — who weighed 5lb 9ozs — was born prematurely at 6.14am on June 17 at home in Motherwell.

"The whole thing went surprisingly smoothly," Kirsty said. "I can't thank my boyfriend and the paramedics enough."
