Wristbands keep kids walking safe

Kilsyth Primary School pupils are delighted with their wristbands.

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland donated high-visibility wristbands to children at Balmalloch Primary, St Patrick’s Primary and Kilsyth Primary to help keep them safe on their walk to school.

The donation was made as part of Walk to School Month, which runs throughout October and is designed to encourage children and parents to make walking to school part of their daily routine, encouraging a healthy lifestyle and minimising car journeys.

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland has given the schools over 400 fluorescent wristbands for children in primary 1-3 of each school to make them more visible to drivers on their journey each day.

Audrey Ross, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: “Nowadays there is a real concern about the amount of time children spend outside being active and walking to school is an ideal way to help them get more exercise – but it’s important that they can be seen clearly by motorists.

“We hope our high-visibility wristbands will help keep the children safe during the darker winter months.”
