LADIES don’t often need an excuse to shop but raising vital funds for a deteriorating church gave the perfect opportunity for a fashion show.

Members of Condorrat Parish held the event - for the second year running - at the Westerwood Hotel in Cumbernauld on Saturday, October 6, to help raise money for the £100,000 fund that is needed to refurbish and repair the church which has been in the area for around 150 years.

Innovations of Perth supplied clothes for the event and members of the congregation posed as models for the day alongside minister Grace Saunders.

A total of £2,900 was raised the fundraising committee at the church are now planning to hold a Christmas fayre with the usual stalls and Santa on Saturday, November 12.

Margaret McCallum, convener of the fundraising committee at the church, said: “We want to thank everyone who came along and supported this event especially the Westerwood Hotel and all their staff.

“We really appreciate all the support we get as the church has been in the area for 150 years and this is work which desperately needs done.”
