The school – attended by Nicola Benedetti – has a February Scottish Tour, with New Lanark is now on the itinerary.

The school is bringing four pianists, a violinist, a cellist and a guitarist. The tour is traditionally an opportunity for the pianists to perform solo works and duos, and they will be playing music by Boccherini, Chopin, Mertz, Scriabin, Robert Schumann, Tchaikovsky and Waxman.

The Young Musician who does a warm-up turn at the beginning, will be Ethan Loch (11), the blind boy from Falkirk who gave a solo concert last May to launch the Piano Fund.

The concert is at 7.45pm in The Institute, New Lanark, tickets £12.50 (£1 for those of school age) from Memorial Hall Box Office, by phone (01555 667999), on-line from www.musicinlanark.co.uk or, if not all sold, at the door.
