Youngsters on song to raise cash for Children in Need

They will be belting out their version of The Climb by pop star Miley Cyrus at the annual television extravaganza.

This will be the fifth year that the children’s choir will perform to help raise cash to improve the lives of disadvantaged young people all over the UK.

BBC Children in Need is currently funding 259 projects in Scotland with a total value of nearly £14 million.

Eighteen of those projects are in North and South Lanarkshire with funding of nearly £1 million pledged to the areas.

Mary Duffy, BBC Children in Need National Head for Scotland, says : “We are delighted that children from Lanarkshire will be joining Jackie Bird in our Glasgow studio to be part of this fantastic spectacle. People across the country do fantastic things to fundraise for BBC Children in Need every year and it’s a privilege to be able to fund great projects in every local authority in Scotland.”

During the appeal show, BBC Children in Need is set to bring some of the biggest names in show business together. Sir Bruce Forsyth will return to Strictly Come Dancing alongside Tess Daly with a Call the Midwife twist. There will be lots of laughs and comedy on the night, a highlight of which will be Harry Hill.

There will be a whole host of chart topping live music from artists such as Ellie Goulding, Years and Years, Rod Stewart, Selena Gomez, and a duet from Shane Filan and Nadine Coyle.

As well as the best bits from Friday, the BBC Scotland Saturday Highlights Show will have a bonus choir performance, a song from Stevie McCrorie of The Voice, and a specially commissioned sketch from the stars of Burniston.

BBC Children in Need will return to screens on Friday, November 13 on BBC One.
