Youngsters rose toannual challenge

THE yearly ‘‘Challenger’’ event, run by the Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, has had its most successful year yet.

Last week, the Challenger Bus visited Abronhill, Westfield and Woodlands Primaries to entertain the pupils, and was also stationed in the car park of Cumbernauld College in the evenings to run more sessions for kids and teenagers.

Each get-together involved games, activities, crafts and inspirational stories, including how Brazil and Real Madrid star Kaka has been helped throughout his career by his faith.

On Friday, all of the youngsters involved were presented with certificates, while a ‘mini-Olympic’ style event was held to finish the week off in style.

Pastor Alan Welsh said: “We were averaging about 24 primary school kids in the sessions at Cumbernauld College and then about 29 teenagers in the evenings.

“We were absolutely delighted with that. It’s the third time we’ve had it here and we had more than we’ve ever had previously.

“I think it’s something we will definitely be looking to do every year now.”
