Youth gets 18-month football ban

A teenager has been banned from football matches for 18 months after rowdy behaviour at Motherwell train station.

Brandon Scott yelled abuse and challenged other supporters to fight on the day of a Motherwell-Celtic game at Fir Park on April 9 this year.

He was on bail at the time, Hamilton Sheriff Court heard today.

Scott (18), of Birrens Road, Motherwell, admitted the offence and previous convictions.

Defence agent Ian Scott said his client had “taken too much to drink and acted rashly”.

Sheriff Thomas Millar said he believed a football banning order was “appropriate” in the circumstances.

He told Scott it applies to all league grounds in Britain and means he can’t even go into pubs when games are being televised.

The sheriff warned him that any breach of the order is a separate offence which could lead to him being locked up.

Scott was also told he will be supervised for six months under a community payback order.
