Zambian VP comes home to Carluke jamworks roots

THE Commonwealth Games in Glasgow has brought thousands of people from across the world back to their Scottish roots.

And one ‘Homecoming’ includes the vice-president of Zambia who travelled to support his nation’s athletes and celebrate his Scottish heritage - include sampling the delights of his descendants famous ‘jeely works’.

Dr Guy Scott was born in the Zambian city of Livingstone, which of course has its own Caledonia Connection.

However, Dr Scott’s father, Alec Scott, was born and bred in Carluke before moving to Zambia in 1927.

Alec was the son of Robert Scott, one of the original Scott family who founded R & W Scott’s Jamworks in Carluke.
