Christmas comes to Kirkintilloch!

Crowds flocked to Kirkintilloch's big Christmas lights switch-on event on Saturday and there was plenty of festive cheer on show.

Kirkintilloch Christmas lights switch on. Laura Newton with her daughter Ariah Newton aged 2 from Kirkintilloch turning on the lights along with Paul Harper from Heart FM, Santa, Santa's helper and Angela McLaren from the Regent Centre.

Santa Claus and his elves were in town for the fun event, while Heart FM DJ Paul Harper pressed the all-important button - with a little help from two-year-old Ariah Newton and mum Laura.

There was also live music, face painting and a fun fair on Union Street, while, as darkness fell, a fireworks display lit up the sky.
