First ever night-time ribbon walk for breast cancer

Walkers completed the five, 10 or 20 miles walk through the city, taking in the magnificent sites, including the Squinty Bridge), Kelvingrove Art Gallery, and the Royal Concert Hall.

Claire Pulford from Breast Cancer Care, said: “It’s fantastic to have seen nearly 600 wonderful walkers take on the first ever Glasgow at Night Pink Ribbonwalk. This year over 4,700 people living in Scotland will receive the devastating news that they have breast cancer. So it’s vital that we continue to offer them care, support and information from day one. We are so grateful to everyone that took part; it really was an incredible night.”

Comedian Susan Calman was the official starter to get the 20 mile walkers off, while STV Live at Five Presenter David Farrell set off the five and ten mile walkers.

Susan from Glasgow, said: “I’m delighted to have supported the Glasgow at Night Pink Ribbonwalk for Breast Cancer Care Scotland. Their services and campaigning continue to be vital to those diagnosed with breast cancer and to their friends and family. I wore my comfy trainers especially!”

The organisers are aiming to raise £175,000 from the event. Breast Cancer Care is the only UK-wide support charity helping the thousands of people with this disease.

All funds raised from the Pink Ribbonwalks enable Breast Cancer Care to provide specialist nurses, local-face-to-face services and a vital online support network to anyone affected.
