Princess Anne visits State Hospital, Carstairs

STAFF at The State Hospital in Carstairs welcomed a special guest in the shape of Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, on Tuesday.

Princess Anne visited the maximum security hospital to mark the opening of the newly redeveloped site, which has benefited from a £90 million investment.

She was welcomed by the Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire, Mushtaq Ahmad OBE, who introduced her to local dignitaries, including South Lanarkshire Provost Eileen Logan, and members of the hospital board.
