Chance to see final design proposed for new primary school

A proposed final design for a new primary school to be built on the site of Lenzie Moss Primary is to be unveiled at an open, drop-in community information event later this month.

The event is the next stage in a consultation process which began last year with workshops for pupils, parents, school staff and Lenzie Community Council to look at a draft design. There was also a community information event in November.

East Dunbartonshire Council says feedback from the events was collated and has contributed to the proposed final design.

A council spokesperson said: “The community information event will give everyone an opportunity to see the proposed look of the new school, find out more and have their say.”

The event takes place on Wednesday, March 18, from 2pm-8pm in Lenzie Academy.

Council leader Rhondda Geekie is grateful to everyone who has contributed to the design process so far.

She said: “When the outline design was available we had great feedback from parents, teachers, school staff, pupils and the wider community.

“A new school is an important development for a community and it is encouraging that so much interest has been shown.

“We are back now with a proposed final design and are looking again for the thoughts of anyone with an interest in the development. It’s an exciting stage in the process but there is still a lot of work to do. I encourage people to come along. We’ve given a six hour slot to try to suit the needs of as many people as possible.”

The new school is to be built on the site of the existing Lenzie Moss Primary.

The architects for the new school, Holmes Miller, will be at the event to provide information and answer any questions. A Council representative will also attend.
