Cumbernauld Footgolf star Sam McGoldrick wins South of Scotland Open
Sam again saw off all the competition in the junior category with a 10-shot victory, making it seven wins out of zseven on this year’s tour.
The teenager was among a number of Cumbernauld players who headed south to the beautiful parkland course for team and individual competitions.

Hide AdIn the Scottish Club Cup the club went down to Glasgow Footgolf Club despite wins for Donny McKenzie over Scotland captain Joe McCourt and Fraser Weir over fellow Scotland internationalist Ali Dick.
The Cumbernauld club lost the fixture after defeats for David McDonald jnr ,Greig McBride and Stephen Neilson who all unfortunately ran into three players who were top of the leaderboard after the first round.
In the tournament itself Donny McKenzie hit an eight under total over the two rounds to finish second in the over 45s, with a double bogey seven at the last costing him another victory.
Paul Doherty had a good tournament to finish in the top 20, while Fraser Weir couldn’t quite hit the standards of his Scottish Open success and finished six under.

Hide AdGood performances from the rest of the club’s players, notably Steven Neilson Connor Wilson and Ryan Nelson, made it a good day all round for the club.
The next Footgolf Association of Scotland event is the Angus Open at Brechin Golf Club on October 4, for which the club will send a strong pool of players up to compete.
