The Kirkintilloch team took a two goal lead into the break, but Pollok got a goal back early in the second half.

Rabs’ goalie then got sent off with 10 minutes remaining, with Pollok taking advantage of the resultant defensive chaos to score twice in the dying minutes for a 3-2 win.

Gaffer Stewart Maxwell was in philisophical form after his first defeat at the club.

He said: “We started very brightly, created numerous chances and hit the woodwork a couple of times.

“We should have been 4-0 at half time but were 2-0 instead, which is a dangerous scoreline.

“In the second half they took the game to us and a bad decision by the referee led to the goal. The goalie being sent off finished us.”

He added: “Pollok have spent a lot of money bringing in top juniors but my boys more than matched them - we just aren’t getting the rub of the green at the moment.

“We have a good squad but they just need to learn to be more streetwise.”

Rob Roy take on Kilbirnie Ladeside in the league at Adamslie Park this Saturday. Kick-off is at 2pm.
