Action at new £200,000 Tinto Park Moto in Rigside

REACHING speeds of up to 50mph, motocross riders are thoroughly enjoying the exciting challenges provided by the new £200,000 six-track Tinto Park Moto facility in Rigside.

The secluded complex — with a main track featuring steep slopes and substantial jumps — is the brainchild of Boghead's Robbie Allan (68), who made history three years ago by becoming the oldest person ever to compete in the Dakar Rally.

"We have something very special here which I think will bring a lot of money into the area," Robbie said.

"I think it will be the best motocross facility in Britain within a year.

"I've never heard of one with six tracks and a big hill.

"On Sunday we had 125 guys from Twin Shop Club in Clackmannanshire riding on track six, and they were telling me it was the best track they'd ever been on.

"Top road racer Donnie McLeod, from Forth, was out here on his bike a few days ago and said that he'd never seen a playground as big as this!

"Of everything I've seen in my life, this will be the safest facility for off road motorcycling.

"It will take us a year to get the place the way we want it, but that's ok because Rome wasn't built in a day.

"We have the right kind of soil — a red clay type substance — which is ideal for riding on. I think in a couple of years we'll be staging big race meetings."
