Amy is set to take on South Africa

FIFTEEN-YEAR-OLD netball player Amy Craig is looking forward to representing Scotland against a South African side in a forthcoming international.

Amy, an Our Lady's High School pupil who lives in Rowan Road, Abronhill, was recently selected for the Scotland Under-17 squad and is keen to take on West Cape from South Africa in a friendly match on Tuesday December 7.

"I'm looking forward to this match but I'm a bit nervous too. I don't know much about the South African team but I hear they're good," said Amy.

Amy has been a netball player for five years, having been introduced to the sport while still at St Lucy's Primary School.

"It was my teacher Marianne Murray who first taught me to play," she said.

"She is a good coach and I really enjoyed the sport."

Amy's interest in netball quickly became a passion and today she plays at club level for both Glasgow and Cumbernauld. The sport has opened exciting travel opportunities for her as well.

"In July I went to a tournament in Malta with the Glasgow team, and that was the first time I'd ever gone abroad without my family," she said.

"And in March the Scotland team will be going to Ireland for a tournament so I'm hoping I will get to play in that too."
