Andrew McGregor selected for Scotland

CARLUKE volleyball ace Andrew McGregor is milking the fact that he has been picked to represent Scotland in the senior team for the first time!

Former Carluke High School pupil Andrew (17), who works seven days a week at his family's dairy farm, can't wait to play for his country at the Novotel Cup in Luxembourg this month.

Given the many hours Andrew spends milking cows at Eastlaw Farm – in between training and playing matches for his volleyball club side Su Ragazzi – it is udd-erly brilliant that he's impressed selectors enough to be chosen for Scotland.

"I work on the farm for about 11 hours a day," Andrew said.

"I get up at 7am to help my dad Alistair with milking and continue to assist with dairy cows throughout the day.

"But my dad still thinks I should be working a lot more and not playing as much volleyball!"

Andrew, who plays as an outside hitter, can't wait to fly out on January 6 for Scotland matches against the Luxembourg national team, Belarus Juniors and an American regional college team.

"I'm really excited about the prospect of playing," he said. "It will be the best experience of my career."
