Another title for Eastwood high school pupil

NEWTON Mearns athlete Erin Wallace picked up her fifth national title this month, despite being just 13 years old.

The local youngster added to her impressive tally when she won the Scottish Triathlon race for 13-14 year olds at Bellahouston park on
Saturday.

The first of the wins came in the Scottish Schools Triathlon on June 2 at Stirling.

In between these events, she picked up gold for the 800m and 1500m at the Scottish schools athletics championships and also ran the anchor leg as her club team Giffnock North won the 3x800m relay final at Grangemouth last weekend.

The relay team set a new record as they picked up the trophy.

Her latest victory means that she qualifies for the Scottish junior team who will compete in the UK championships in England in August when Erin hopes to defend her British title.

Last year, the Eastwood high school pupil claimed victory in the same race in the 11-12-year-old category.
