

Early morning mist which greeted the runners in the first few races did little to disguise the difficult underfoot conditions caused by the heavy rain of the previous few days.
When this was combined with several short but sharp hill climbs on each lap, the courses presented an excellent challenge to the 700 athletes from 16 schools.
