Biggar High pupils win British Schools orienteering silver

LIFE was a beach for three Biggar High School pupils in Northumberland recently — when they won silver medals at the British Schools Orienteering Championships on a 4km course rife with 25m high sand dunes!

Kirsty Brown (16), Rachel Barr (15) and Emily Nicholl (15) coped admirably with the challenging layout at Druridge Bay Country Park to finish second in the girls under-16 team section, a category contested by 28 teams.

Their coach Blair Young, a PE teacher at Biggar High, said: "I'm extremely proud of the girls' efforts, especially when you consider that pupils from 98 UK schools were competing."
