Biggar ladies celebrate another golfing success

THE lady players of Biggar Golf Club have been celebrating winning the 2012 Tinto League, after coming top of the pile above rival teams Carnwath, Greenburn and West Linton.

Captain Dorothy Ramsay and her Biggar team-mates Julie Woodside, Shiona Simpson, Fiona Wight, Liz Tweedie and Lorraine Murray proved too good for the rest.

“We are absolutely delighted to have won,” said 12-handicapper Julie.

“Our team gelled well together and never gave up in any of the matches.”

Biggar players, whose team was sponsored by Harper Opticians, excelled in a series of home and away individual and team matchplay contests played at 5pm on weekdays.

This culminated in them receiving the Tinto League trophy – bought from a charity shop by Biggar lady members several years ago – at their home club.
