Biggar Rugby Club beat Peebles in first game for nine weeks

BIGGAR Rugby Club atoned for losing to Peebles twice last season in spectacular style at Hartreemill on Saturday, with an 11-6 Premier 2 victory which made it two wins out of two over their bitter rivals in the 2009-2010 campaign.

"I'm very happy with the result," Biggar head coach Ants Posa said after watching his team's first match in nine weeks.

"The boys battled well on a heavy pitch and I was happy with every single one of them.

"Scott Watson, who came in due to Michael McKeand's unavailibilty, was outstanding on the wing for us. Scott Cameron, Kevin Anderson and Mikey Rutherford were great in the front row, Jason Kelly was excellent in the loose and Conor Lavery did a fine job at stand-off.

"We were always in control of the game. We negated Peebles's strength up front and in the scrum.

"Winning a derby is always sweet, and to do the double over Peebles makes it extra special.
