Biggar are second bottom with 29 points from their 18 fixtures, after a defeat which owed much to the ability of Marr’s Colin Sturgeon, who scored 21 points on his own.

Elsewhere Lanark Rugby Club’s survival battle was boosted with last Saturday’s 15-10 West Division 3 triumph at Bishopton.

This was sweet revenge for Lanark, who narrowly lost to the same opposition last month.

And in the only junior football match of the weekend, Carluke Rovers ran out 3-1 winners against Maryhill.
