Gavin – speaking after the snow-induced postponement of last weekend’s home game against Dundee – is eyeing a positive result to get third-bottom Biggar further away from the bottom two relegation places in BT National League Division 1.

“I think we will embrace the challenge of going to Watsonians with no problems at all,” Gavin said.

“We are good enough to compete with any team in the league. We are mentally stronger now than in previous weeks.

“I don’t see why we can’t win if we continue to maintain our accuracy and are mentally and physically focussed.

“If our forwards dominate the match against Watsonians, then I think we’ll be in business because our backline is as good as any in this league.

“Our forwards just need to keep doing what they have been doing in recent matches – producing good quality ball.

“There is quite a wide pitch at Watsonians and that suits us when it comes to playing our expansive rugby.”
