Bowled over by trophy win

A HISTORIC win is being celebrated by the men of Kilsyth Miners' Bowling Club.

The group emerged victorious from this year's Kirkintilloch and District Points 4 Trophy, the first time the club has collected the prize since 1983.

Club secretary Anthony Docherty said: "It's the first time we've won an external tournament for quite a few years. Apart from the photoshoot with the trophy, we had a bit of a celebration into the night on Saturday. It's a great achievement for the club."

A total of sixteen players had a hand in the victory, with four teams, each consisting of four bowlers, competing against rival clubs. (C102092a)
