Boxer Buzzsaw dishes out a beating

It was another step up in class for the Slamannan fighter but Ducker was rarely able to show what he was made of with ‘Buzzsaw’ Beattie flying through the four rounds at a frenetic pace.

The Englishman was left bloodied and beaten by Beattie, who looked like he could have gone another four rounds after the fight, despite the pace.

The boxer, affiliated to Kilsyth Golden Gloves and trained by Sparta in Grangemouth topped the bill at MGM Scotland’s Summer Showdown event.

And he sent a typically vocal Falkirk support home happy with four blistering rounds of boxing.

He hit Ducker with a big punch very early in the first round and was particualrly aggressiv e throughout the first three minutes, refusing to let the Englishman anywhere near out of reach. It was a hard-working effort from Beattie from the first bell and it rarely let up.

Ducker looked like he wanted to fight and box and that would have suited Beattie, had he allowed Ducker to show anything like what he was made of.

The Englishman gave flashes of his capability but was overwhelmed by Beattie’s frantic blows.

Two left-right combinations landed early in round two and Beattie was in complete control again as blood poured from his opponent’s nose and mouth. A big right hook landed square on Ducker’s chin. he stayed standing but Beattie compelted a big round and kept up the pace.

In the third he began slower than the previous, then held up over a dislodged mouthpiece and over the round, he let up, slightly. From frantic pace, it was merely fast-paced from the lightweight. He was blasted by his corner for doing so too, with Beattie’s coaches suggesting he was giving his opponent an unneccessary rest, but Beattie made up for it in the fourth. Ducker was warned early for holding and by the end he was holding on for a points defeat.

Referee Kevin McIntyre awarded the fight to Beattie 40-36.
