McGinnis will headline KO Promotions’ ‘Back in Business’ card at Rivals Gym in Wishaw on Saturday, July 26, against Jules Philips.

However, on this occasion McGinnis will not be using his feet and will have to rely on only his hands to defeat Philips.

He said: “I am building my knee up all the time, I have been out on the road and there has been no swelling.

“Likewise, I have been able to hit the bag in training and generate a bit of power so things are getting there.

“However, for my first fight back I decided just to take a regular boxing match, so I can ease me back into things without the same risk to my knee.

“My aim at the start was to get back to action before Arsenal’s Theo Walcott as we both went under similar operations at the same time.

“It appears I’ll have done that, however this isn’t simply a fitness exercise, I want to win.

“I have a defence of my World kickboxing title coming up in October and I don’t want to go into that on the back of a defeat.

“Also I have no desire to give my opponent the bragging rights that he beat a World kickboxing champion.

“Come bell time I’ll be going all out and fingers crossed that everything goes to plan and I can start looking to the future.”
