Return of boxing show

A popular boxing show which has raised money for charity, and is a calendar highlight will return to Kilsyth this year.

Golden Gloves Boxing Club will have their annual boxing show at Kilsyth Academy on April 5.

The News and Chronicle reported the show was cancelled this year because the date conflicted with prelim exams at the school,.

The event is traditionally held at the school during Easter .

Golden Gloves Boxing Club were offered a date in December but decided to postpone because it would conflict with everything else going on during the festive season.

But the now the club has confirmed that the event, which is usually a sell-out, is back on.

Meanwhile, two teenagers from Kilsyth Golden Gloves Boxing Club have had success at a novice fight which was held in Newarthill at the weekend.

Sean O’Hara (15) , from Kilsyth, and Cumbernauld lad Sean Malone (14) both won in the first round after the referee stop their respective matches against Hamilton’s ABC.

The club will have senior fighters competing in two weeks time at the Western Districts Senior Scottish Championships.
