Braidwood boxer Jordan McShane wins in Ireland

With several hundred Irish boxing fans rooting for his opponent, gutsy Braidwood teenager Jordan McShane blocked out their partisan chants to win a bout for Scotland under-16s.

Fourth year Carluke High School pupil Jordan (15), of Albert Park, stopped top Irish talent Adam O’Connell in the second round of their scheduled three-round contest, at the Roachestown Park Hotel in Cork.

“The atmosphere at the fight was absolutely incredible,” Jordan said.

“The noise they were making sounded like thousands of people rather than hundreds.

“There was no blood on Adam after I’d hit him with a left hook and a right hand, but his coach decided to throw in the towel. It was good to shut the crowd up.”
