Bronze medal for Conor

YOUNG judo player Conor Murphy was in action at the British Cadet Championships earlier in January.

Months of hard training even over the festive period were rewarded at the EIS in Sheffield when Conor received a bronze medal. Conor’s coach, Sandy Kirk, told the News: “He produced some fantastic judo and fought his way through to a bronze medal fight which turned out to be a rematch with his first round victor. The bronze medal fight lived up to expectation with a strong performance from both players but I feel Conor’s extra training and determination pushed him to victory.”

Conor, (13), who lives in Seafar and attends Greenfaulds High School, has a promising future in judo. He is a member of the Scottish development team and hopes to continue on to senior international competition.
