Busby AFC president Alan Bruce said; “My feeling is one of pride. I was so happy when he got his first call up a few years ago.

“It is great that so many of the 1986 made the break through into the professional game.”

Former Celtic and current Everton winger Aiden McGeady also played for the club as a youngster.

The 27-year-old southsider could be playing in the Premier League next season, after Derby defeated Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday in the Championship play off semi-final.

The Rams will face Queens Park Rangers in the Championship play-off final on Saturday (3pm KO).
