Call for change

The gaffer hopes to bring in several new players to “get the club out of a sticky situation”.

He told ExtraSport: “We need to bring in strength in all areas of the park, we want faster, younger, hungrier players to supplement the experience already within the squad.

“We lost five or six players in December, and I won’t be happy unless we bring in similar numbers to replace them.

“I am hopeful we can get at least one or two deals over the line this week.”

This week, 21-year-old goalkeeper Andy Duncan joined from Airdrieonians to add competition for the number one jersey.

The young stopper has first team experience in league one, including a man of the match performance against Rangers.

Pollok’s Scottish cup replay will be played this Saturday, after last weekend’s fixture fell victim to weather.

Tony added: “It is frustrating. The boys were excited. They were unlucky not to win the original fixture but they came up against a keeper having an inspired game.

“A cup run is important. We need momentum and the only way to get that is to win games.

“I have been delighted with the response from the players. There’s a good spirit at the moment and the boys are getting fitter and sharper.”
