The improvements are all thanks to a successful application to Viridor’s Land Community Fund, which Carluke GC can use as it’s within a 10-mile radius of Viridor’s landfill site at East Kilbride.

Carluke GC vice captain Tom Frame (58) said: “The course has been in remarkable condition for the time of year and I am chuffed that we can offer these facilities to members and visitors.

“We hope that the improvements we’ve made at the course will lead to an increased membership.

“We currently have 750 members, a figure which has reduced by three per cent in the past 12 months.

“The key thing for us is to try and encourage younger people to play the game.”
